Why should you sail at UMD?
1
Sailing Opportunities
No matter your level of experience, we offer many opportunities to sail. In addition to our own practices on our fleet of FJs, we offer FJ and 420 regattas similar to high school racing, and even offshore keelboat regattas.

2
A Chance to Travel
Stuck in College Park? Come travel with us on our away regattas! You'll get a free hotel room at each regatta in locations from New York City to Los Angeles. After sailing, we love to check out the area and go out to eat together.

3
Sense of Community
We are more than just a club sailing team—we are a community. With weekly social events doing everything from hikes, trips to DC, and even a Halloween themed practice, you'll make great friends on our team.

Our Stats
Try something new in college. Come sail with us!
Whether you’re a high school sailor looking to continue competitively sailing in college, or if you’re someone who’s never sailed before, the Maryland Club Sailing Team has a spot for you.
Everyone on our team was once a high schooler looking to find their perfect college. If you’re interested in coming to Maryland and would like to come to a practice or meet people on the team to see if it’s the right fit for you, shoot us an email at marylandsailing@gmail.com and we’ll set you up, or you can sign up for our potential sailor's email list below.
The sailing team has students involved in a wide array of majors, clubs, and other organizations on campus, and we’d be happy to give you insight and advice on anything if you’re not quite sure if Maryland is for you yet. Visiting the school and meeting team members has been a deciding factor for many of our sailors, and we hope that it can do the same for you.

We have weekly team meetings on Wednesday nights at 6:00PM in the Eppley Recreation Center where we welcome anyone interested in learning more about us or sailing in general. Please note that individuals who do not currently attend UMD may need to pay to enter Eppley.
