When do you meet? And where?

We meet every Wednesday during the semester on Wednesday nights at 6:00PM in the Eppley Student Board Room, which is on the floor below the entrance to Eppley. Go down the stairs and turn right, and the room is on the right side of the hall just before the squash and racquetball courts.

Where do you practice and how do you get there?

We practice in Galesville at West River Sailing Club, where our FJs are kept year-round. It's about a 45 minute drive from UMD's campus. After our weekly meetings, one of our officers will organize a group chat for practice and arrange carpools. Sometimes certain cars will stay after practice to get dinner at the nearby restaurants or go into downtown Annapolis.

How often do you practice?

We will practice at least once a week, if not more, depending on weather, interest and availability from sailors and officers. We won't sail in thunderstorms or really heavy wind, so practice is dependent on that.

I haven't sailed much or I've never sailed before, can I still come and learn?

Yes! We take sailors of all skill and experience levels. We will teach you to sail at our practices.

Question 5

How big of a time committment will this be?

However much you're willing to make it. We're a club sport, so the team can be as big or little a part of your life as you want. Some members choose to travel and compete every weekend, while others choose only to come to practices and meetings. We ask that all members try to attend at least three team events outside of meetings every semester.

Do you have a coach?

Like many other club teams around the country, we do not have a paid coach. Instead, we are entirely student run.

Do you offer scholarships?

Unfortunately, because we are a club team, we are unable to offer scholarships of any kind.

Do you offer returns on gear orders?

Products must be returned within 30 days of receiving the product. Email us if you want to return a product.
